Iprodione Fungicide’s Mode of Action
Iprodione is a dicarboximide fungicide that works primarily through contact and locally systemic activity. Its mode of action includes:
1. Contact Action: Iprodione disrupts the normal function of fungal cells by inhibiting the germination of spores and preventing the growth of mycelium on the plant surface. This action helps to prevent the establishment and spread of fungal infections.
2.Inhibition of DNA Synthesis: Iprodione interferes with the DNA synthesis in fungi, thereby halting cell division and fungal growth. This leads to the death of the fungal cells and prevents further development of the disease.
3.Preventative and Curative Properties: Due to its contact and locally systemic action, iprodione is effective both as a preventative measure when applied before infection occurs and as a curative treatment when applied at the early stages of disease development.
