Cyhalofop-butyl is the only herbicide that is highly safe for rice. Like other varieties in this category, it is also a systemic conductive herbicide. It travels in the leaves and leaf sheaths of plants and conducts in the phloem.
Cyhalofop-butyl 10 ec is A Safe and Effective Herbicide for Rice
Cyhalofop-butyl 10 ec is the only aryloxyphenoxypropionate herbicide with a high safety profile for rice. Like other herbicides in this class, it is a systemic herbicide that is absorbed by the leaves and leaf sheaths of plants. It is translocated through the phloem and accumulates in the meristematic tissues, inhibiting acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACCase). This inhibition stops fatty acid synthesis, disrupts cell growth and division, and damages lipid-containing structures such as membranes, ultimately leading to plant death.
Mechanism of Action
Cyhalofop-butyl works by blocking the enzyme ACCase, which is crucial for fatty acid synthesis. Without fatty acids, cell membranes and other lipid structures cannot form properly, halting cell growth and division. This results in a slow but effective weed control process, with weeds typically dying within 1 to 3 weeks after absorption. Post-application symptoms include wilting of the young shoots at the four-leaf stage, leading to their death, while older leaves at the two-leaf stage show minimal changes and remain green.
