  • Mode of Action: It works by stimulating the release of neurotransmitters in the nervous system of pests, leading to paralysis and death.

3. Ivermectin

  • Composition: Ivermectin is a derivative of avermectin, specifically modified from avermectin B1a and B1b. It is usually a combination of these two components, with the B1a component being the more active one.
  • Usage: Ivermectin is widely used in veterinary medicine and human medicine as an antiparasitic drug. It is effective against a variety of parasites, including roundworms, lice, and mites.
  • Mode of Action: Similar to abamectin, ivermectin binds to specific neurotransmitter receptors in parasites, leading to paralysis and death. However, its formulation and dosage are optimized for use in animals and humans rather than as an agricultural pesticide.
